PAMCo 3 2020 Data
(Apr’19 – Mar’20 print data with June’20 Comscore data)

Good Morning,

We hope you have all had a good summer and are keeping well and safe. As you know from previous communications, due to the current situation, all face-face interviewing was suspended in March and this has affected PAMCo 3 2020 data which would usually cover the period July 2019 – June 2020 for print data and incorporate June 2020 Comscore data. Following a PAMCo Board decision, the PAMCo 3 2020 dataset published today uses the same print estimates as published with the PAMCo 2 data release (April ’19 – March ’20 print data) but it incorporates June Comscore data as originally planned.

PAMCo is working with our partners at Ipsos on a new survey methodology to begin to release updated print estimates in 2021 and details of our in field live test are included further down this email. We will be holding a customer webinar next month to allow stakeholders to understand in more detail the methodology approach that we are taking and have the opportunity to ask any questions. When the date of this is confirmed we will email you all to offer you the opportunity to sign up to this webinar.

PAMCo 4 2020

Due to the current situation, all face-face interviewing has been stopped and this will affect PAMCo 4 2020 data which would usually cover the period October 2019 – September 2020 for print data and incorporates September 2020 Comscore data. Following a PAMCo Board decision, PAMCo 4 2020 dataset will be published on 2nd December embargoed until 9th December but it will cover April ’19 – March ’20 print data and incorporate September 2020 Comscore data.

Developing a mixed methodology for PAMCo

Following completion and review of our initial set of tests investigating alternative approaches to face-to-face data collection, the PAMCo Board have agreed to carry out an in-field live test of c.5,700 interviews in Q4 2020.

The approach agreed by the PAMCo Board is based on an ‘online first’ method and includes two survey phases:

  1. A Postal Phase - where all sampled addresses are mailed and invited to take part either by online or paper self-completion questionnaire.
  2. A Field Phase - where those not completing the postal phase will be invited to take part with a field facilitator recruiting participants to complete the survey.

The Technical Group will review results of this test in Q1 2021 with a view of making a recommendation to the PAMCo Board for publication of this data.

We will be holding a customer webinar next month to allow stakeholders to understand in more detail the methodology approach that we are taking and have the opportunity to ask any questions. A separate email invitation will be sent to all towards the end of September.

Ipsos iris – UKOM

As you are all aware, from January 2021 Ipsos iris is the new solution endorsed by UKOM to measure online audiences in the UK and will therefore become the source of digital estimates for PAMCo. To ensure that a publisher’s digital assets can be fully measured across desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones and are most accurately represented to the marketplace they must ensure that they are fully tagged by the end of October 2020.

To participate in tagging and ensure your brands are reported in Ipsos iris from January 2021, please email tag-support@ipsosiris.com and they will provide the necessary information to get started.
